My beloved father passed away on Wednesday, May 9th. Although I am not usually at a loss for words, they are in short supply at this time. Hopefully, I’ll find them again soon. Though I’m sure many of you are rightly suspicious wordiness on my part will come sooner rather than later. ;)

I plan to be away from my blog for a few days to mourn my father - a man a dear friend so aptly described here:

“My heart is so heavy this morning. A wonderful man has left us. Father to a dear friend and grandfather to her children, as well as a friend of mine, passed away last night. A grand Southern gentleman, an intellectual, a thoughtful and wry wit, and a deeply loved man. The world is less today.”

Leigh, I have thought of you and your family often over the past few weeks… I was waiting for the right words to come… but as is often the case… there are no right words.

I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful father. You are fortunate to have had such a marvelous and supportive relationship… I had shared your post about him with a friend of mine whose grandson had been struggling with serious health and developmental issues - as a perfect example of how she might support her daughter and grandson.

Your dad was amazing… and his response and support of you demonstrated such trust and faith in you. He must have been very proud to have you as his daughter.

    Hugs and sympathy…
    Leah

Do what feels right for you, when it feels right for you and allow yourself what you need as you cope with practical arrangments, your grief and the grief of others who also love your dad and mourn his passing. If you need something ask. People, neuro-typical or neuro-diverse, still need clues as they seek to do the right thing at the right time. Most of all remember that as you give to others, they can give back to you - if you let them.

I was only just starting to get to know your Dad. What I do kow about him was that he was, as said above, ‘a grand southern gentleman.’ There are sadly not many who can fit that particular profile. He was adored by you and your children as well as many others and he will be missed for a very long time. The Good Lord provided you with a special gift with Callum. Whenever you think about your Dad and start to miss him, just look to Callum and you will see your father’s smile. I love you and yours. God bless.
