The winner of the In His Shoes book giveaway is Karen! Karen wrote:
“Please include us in your random drawing. We have a 12 year old daughter with autism and also almost-13-year old NT twin boys, and a 9 year old NT daughter. We are trying to assist each of them with their individual struggles as well as teach our youth group at church and the others at school about living and associating with a child on the spectrum who just wants to fit in with others but does it in such a different manner. Congrats to whoever wins and to the rest of us who will run out and purchase the book if we do not win. In the end we will ALL be winners.”
Karen, check your email. Congratulations! :)

Thanks so much! Never expected to win, but entered anyway. What a lift as we had a difficult time with our daughter during this past week. We had a death in the family and had quite a few out of state relatives in for the week. You all know how necessary routine is and how any changes can upset the apple cart for our kids on the AS. Our daughter just could not handle the influx of family and the change to her standard routine. Our family is so very supportive but they just do not deal with this on a daily basis and could not totally understand how to interact with our daughter. They tried. They really did. Even the cousins who know and love her, just could not find a way to enter her world sufficiently. They were so good about taking her outside to do some playing following her rules to whatever games they dreamed up. She was grateful (and so was I!) to get some of her gross motor movement needs filled. They even all put up with a very disturbed few nights’ sleep as our girl was up almost hourly getting into the kitchen to fill her need to chew. It will take us some time now to recover. I look forward to reading this book. BTW, we did get a copy of the A is for Autism, F is for Friend book and found it wonderful for the older elementary cousins. It made it easier for our NT 9 yr old to explain some of the stim behaviors her sister does and made it OK in the cousins’ eyes. Now to put the pieces back together and try and enjoy today…. I am looking forward to bedtime tonight already!
Karen, congratulations! Hope you enjoy the book
Way to go Karen. I hope the book is useful.
